It’s been about a year since we started the TAC, and we just wanted to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to all our readers.
When the site first started, we got about 300 hits a month. As of today, we had 2700 hits for October. It’s really incredible.
Not only do you seem to enjoy checking out the site from day to day, but it’s spread farther than we’d ever thought possible. From a handful of colleagues somewhere in the United States, to countries we’ve had to look up on a map to recognize. (To be fair, some of our geography skills aren’t what they should be)
So again, thanks to all of you, and we hope to see you through another great year.
We interrupt the random pointlessness of this blog to bring you something that’s actually important.
Freerice.com is a unique site where you help world hunger while improving your vocabulary.
The site is basically a word matching game. For every word you get right, they donate ten grains of rice. The money for the rice comes from the advertisers at the bottom of the screen. So by playing the game you raise the money to buy the rice,
as well as improve your vocabulary skills at the same time.
The computer automatically adjusts the difficulty based on your skill. For rvery three words you get correct the game increases the difficulty. This program is appropriate for any age or skill level; from English Professors to those just learning English.
Give it a try, or better yet, have your class give it a try. Help feed the hungry, and make yourself more smarter at the same time!
